We have recently added the work of Gold Coast (Australia) based artist Hayley to our platform here at Fetch Lane. Hayley creates under her brand name Buddy and Baby and creates beautiful illustrations for the home or baby room. We ask her how it all got started.

So Hayley, What led you to start B&B?
I have always love to draw and after I had my first son I drew a portrait of him which led to doing some for friends. This was popular and eventually led to art for his bedroom, my husband suggested that I do this and have them made into prints for others to enjoy!

Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?
My boys give me a lot of inspiration for my more masculine prints with their interests and are very honest when they don’t like something! I find social media and day to day objects are great platforms for ideas and starting points.

Why is supporting local makers important in your mind?

When you work so hard on something that means so much it makes you realise how much all the other small local businesses are working! I love handmade local products whether it is children’s clothing, artwork or just fresh fruit from the farmers market, knowing that you have contributed to someone’s business and livelihood is a great thing.

What’s next for B&B? Any new products coming soon?

I am currently working on some new prints for Spring/Summer 18/19 and am excited to share them! Custom orders are always exciting as they are a challenge and each one is so different.

Thank you, Hayley! To check out the range visit the B&B page HERE.
